I hope you're nearly as excited as me about our new sermon series in the book of Nehemiah. One aspect we're hoping to involve the congregation in is this: telling your stories of restoration. We'd like for you to share with us stories of something God has restored, or is in the process of restoring, or something you'd like to see restored in your life.
There are two ways to get involved in this ministry: one is to post an actual piece of paper on a "wall of restoration" we will be constructing in the foyer. You will hear about this in the next week or two. Another opportunity is to email us with your story of restoration and have us post it to a new blog I've set up. I think this is a great way we can "spur one another on toward love and good deeds." (Hebrews 10.24)

Last week was absolutely amazing. I fully enjoyed Pastor Perry addressing our sin as a people and as individuals. It's great to have a constant reminder that I need a savior. Without that reminder I find it easy to lose the true perspective of life and where I fit into God's creation. I begin to think that I'm the center of God's focus, when it's His glory that is His focus, and rightfully should be. He's God and I'm not.
Hi. My name is Barbara L. Scott. I am the author of From Rubble To Restoration based on the book of Nehamiah and published in 2007 (see Amazon.com). It's the story of how God restored our family when we were literally one day from destruction.
I was wondering if you used my book or if someone read my book as the idea and some of the themes are so similar? For instance: I encourage people to tell their testimonies because in Rev 12:11 it says that by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony we defeat the enemy.
My purpose for writing this was to glorify God - not myself.
While with YWAM my husband and I spoke to a Korean Businessmen's seminar. One gentleman from that group was a professor from Myunji University in Seoul, So Korea. He had my book translated and published into Korean. Then they hosted my husband and I on a 2 week speeking tour in Seoul. It was a wonderful experience.
Barbara,
No, I've never heard of your book. It was a total coincidence! The senior pastor and I decided to call our sermon series on Nehemiah by that title. We even constructed a wall made of styrofoam blocks painted grey and weathered. It got successively bigger week by week as the series progressed.
I agree that sharing stories does help reflect glory to God and energize His people to get on task as well, working for the Kingdom of God. We used the blog and testimonies shared in front of the church to highlight God's working good out of bad situations in our lives.
Indeed, to God be the glory!
Pastor Grant
